Dignity and Respect Advisers
At City St George’s we are committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.
Our Dignity and Respect Advisers (DARA) provide confidential, impartial guidance on issues related to bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment), ensuring that everyone in our community can pursue their studies in a dignified and secure atmosphere.
Our Dignity and Respect Advisers offer:
- Confidential support: providing a safe space for individuals to discuss concerns, access support and guide them through their options without judgment.
- Impartial advice: maintaining neutrality, offering unbiased advice to all parties involved, ensuring fair treatment and respect for everyone's rights.
- Guidance on university resources: help navigating the complexities of university policies and procedures, and direct individuals to appropriate internal or external resources.
- Advisor matching process: ensuring impartiality by matching students seeking support with Dignity and Respect Advisers from different schools or professional service.
Accessing a Dignity and Respect Adviser
You can access the DARA service by completing a Dignity and Respect form or by reporting an incident through City St George’s Report + Support platform. Both options are completely confidential.
If you make a report via Report + Support and include your personal details, you will be supported by a member of staff who will signpost the DARA service to you. We aim to be in touch with you within 48 hours.
Alongside the DARA service, you can access further guidance, definitions, policies and procedures related to bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct on the platform. You can report with, or without, your personal details and access advice and guidance on taking formal action.
We encourage students to use the Report + Support platform when raising concerns about bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment). Data collected from reports will enable City St George’s to build a picture of what concerns students have and provide statistical information that will help identify trends and themes. This will inform work undertaken by City St George’s to prevent bullying, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
Confidentiality
Our Dignity and Respect Advisers strictly adhere to confidentiality principles, ensuring that all discussions are private unless disclosure is necessary due to risk of harm or legal requirements.
