Welcoming every Faith, Belief and Culture

For Clerkenwell and Moorgate Campus Students

Our Coordinating Chaplain, Reverend Ian Worsfold explains how the Chaplaincy team can help you during your time at university. 2.5 minute watch.

Welcome from the Chaplaincy Team

Here at City St George’s, you’re part of a wonderfully diverse community with people studying from all parts of the world and representing a whole range of faiths and cultures. As your Chaplaincy team, we offer an inclusive space open to all students, and provide you with pastoral, emotional, spiritual and non-spiritual support during your time with us.

Whether you’re looking to find opportunities to practice your faith alongside your studies, or you’re thinking about your identity and purpose as you navigate your time at university, we’re here to listen, support and help guide you where, and when, you need. It does not matter if you are religious or not.

We have an open-door policy. You can drop by and find us in the City St George's Faith Centre on Level 1 of the Tait Building, Clerkenwell campus, or reach us online.

Religious observance during exams and assessments

The University recognises that occasionally the exam timetable and assessment periods cause a conflict for students of faith in meeting their religious observances.

If this applies to you, then please consult the Religious Observance webpage and if you need to make an application, please do this at the earliest possible opportunity and no later than three weeks before the start of your exam period or assessment

Tooting campus students

At City St George’s, we do our best to ensure the academic timetable is sensitive to the needs of students, including in matters of faith. However, with so many major religions represented in our community, that isn’t always possible. When that happens, alternative arrangements can often be made.

Teaching dates and major examination periods are timed to accommodate the requirements of each individual degree programme and you may find that you have an exam or placement scheduled during a particular religious festival or period of religious observance. If this is the case you should speak to a member of your department, normally your course coordinator, as soon as possible. Your tutor should listen to your situation and discuss potential solutions with you, although it will not always be possible to find a solution.
