Merging legacy City and St George's resources
As we bring together resources for Clerkenwell & Moorgate (legacy City) and Tooting (legacy St George’s) students, some content may be specific to one campus and not the other. For the most relevant information, try using specific keywords or exploring content related to your department. If you need help, our support teams are available to guide you.
Clerkenwell & Moorgate students can use Support@City
Tooting students can contact studentlifecentre@sgul.ac.uk.

Multifaith Room at Tooting Campus
Open to students and staff of all faiths, or non-faith, the City St George's Multifaith and Quiet Contemplation Room (MFQCR) is a space for the main faith communities on campus. These facilities may equally be used as a quiet space for people to sit and contemplate, to pray, to take a few moments to de-stress from a busy day, or to recover from a traumatic life event such as a bereavement.
Our Students’ Union also has a number of faith societies that hold events in the space and provide students with an opportunity to support each other spiritually, discuss and debate faith issues.
Location : Jenner Wing, 1st Floor, by staircase 19.
Open Hours : 8am – 10pm, seven days a week during the university’s academic year only.
Outside of these times, students are invited to make use of the Spiritual Care Centre, which is open 24/7.
Who can use the room?
Current staff and students of all faiths and no faith. Currently Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs all use the room.
How can I book it?
The room can be booked for use by City St George’s Student Union Societies or by staff members. To enquire about bookings, contact MFQCR@sgul.ac.uk or phone.
Can I just drop in?
The room may be used for quiet contemplation at any time during opening hours unless there is a booked event happening. No booking is required.
Can I book it for events with external speakers?
Yes, in line with the university events and external speaker and visitors policy.
Can I invite people to attend who are not current staff and students?
The rooms are provided for current staff and students of the university. External guests are permitted but must be formally invited to visit the MFQCR by the event organiser. The event organiser must always be a current member of staff or current student at the university. For more information see the MFQCR Protocol.
Where can I perform ablutions before prayers?
Facilities for ablutions are located just outside the Multifaith and Quiet Contemplation Room. Just follow the signs in and around the room itself.
