Learning & Study Support
The Student Life Centre is the place to go for all student matters. Our team of advisers offer you support with a wide range of aspects of student life, from student finance and fees to exams, wellbeing and campus facilities.
Merging legacy City and St George's resources
As we bring together resources for Clerkenwell & Moorgate (legacy City) and Tooting (legacy St George’s) students, some content may be specific to one campus and not the other. For the most relevant information, try using specific keywords or exploring content related to your department. If you need help, our support teams are available to guide you.
Clerkenwell & Moorgate students can use Support@City
Tooting students can contact AS@sgul.ac.uk

Academic Skills information for Tooting students
Tooting Campus students can book an appointment via the Academic Success appointments link, which can be found on the Study+ Canvas pages. If you are a student at the other campuses, please use this link instead: Academic Skills appointments
We provide one-to-one support with a range of study issues, including effective study strategies, writing academic assignments, and English language help. Appointments last 45 minutes and are available all year round. Students can choose between a remote meeting on Microsoft Teams or a face-to-face appointment on campus.
The Study+ Canvas pages also offer a wide range of resources for self-directed learning related to the development of academic skills (reading, writing, revising, online learning, and learning from lectures).
Please note that the information above is for Tooting students only.
Staff Consultancy
We provide academic staff development and curriculum development advice for new and existing courses, with a particular focus on how to design in/integrate support for academic study and writing within a programme. We are always happy to discuss queries related to inclusive teaching, assessment and feedback literacy, or developing students’ learning, via email or in person with individual staff or programme teams.
StudyPlus Appointments
The Study+ team at City St George's Tooting Campus offers academic success appointments which provide one-to-one support with a range of study issues, including effective study strategies, writing academic assignments and English language help.
Appointments are available all year round. You can choose between a remote meeting on Microsoft Teams or a face-to-face appointment on campus.
In order to allow us to support as many people as possible, we can offer a limited number of appointments per student with at least two weeks between them. The number of appointments we can offer is at the staff members' discretion and may be reviewed according to your individual circumstances.
If you cannot find appointments available during the time you need, you can contact us directly using this email address: AS@sgul.ac.uk. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
StudyPlus Canvas Resources
We also run the Study+ Canvas module, with self-access study resources on a range of topics. The most popular of these include learning effectively from lectures, academic writing and referencing. Students on all courses are enrolled automatically when they log onto Canvas, and content is generic to be applicable to all. If you have feedback on this content or ideas for new things we should include please contact us.
Programme Teaching
We offer sessions supporting students with the transition to new levels of study, and preparing for written assessments, across most undergraduate and many postgraduate programmes. These sessions are co-designed and co-delivered with programme teams, and are tailored to the specific requirements of your cohort and curriculum. Get in touch if you would like to discuss introducing new or additional sessions within your programme.
