Registration is the official process to enrol as a student on your chosen course.
Registration at Clerkenwell and Moorgate
Registration consists of five stages.
- Stage One: Online registration
- Stage Two: Upload your ID documents
- Stage Three: Activate your IT account
- Stage Four: Have your ID verified
- Stage Five: Collect your student ID card (on-campus study only).

Registration at City St George's
Below you will also find instructions on how to complete all stages of this process which will vary slightly depending on whether you are a British/Irish National or an international student.
Please be aware that the guidance below and process that you will need to follow is based on the given nationality that you added in your application form and not where you are normally resident or your agreed fee status.

Registration for new UK and Irish students
Please see the below for guidance on each step of your registration process:
Stage One: Online registration
All new and returning students of City St George's, University of London are required to register online. Once you have an unconditional offer of a place on a course and the admissions staff for your course have received and logged your firm acceptance of that offer, you will be sent an email with a unique link to your registration portal from where you can start the process of registering as a student.
Students starting courses between August and October 2025:
- Invitations to register are usually sent to students holding a firmly accepted unconditional offer between 4-6 weeks before the start date of their course.
- We expect invitations to be sent to postgraduate students holding an unconditional offer for a course starting in September from week commencing 11th August 2025.
- We expect invitations to be sent to undergraduate students holding an unconditional offer for a course starting in September from week commencing 18th August 2025.
During the online part of registration, you will be asked to:
- Confirm your personal details, such as your name and date of birth
- Confirm your course details
- Update your contact details
- Accept to abide by City St George's Ordinances and Regulations
- Pay your tuition fees

If you have any problems or would rather complete this process in-person, then you may do so.
Please note: You will not be able to register online for your course until you have received an email from the Registration Team inviting you to do so.
You must also hold a formal and confirmed unconditional offer for your course to receive this invite. If you are unsure of whether your offer is unconditional, please contact your Admissions Officer.
Stage Two: Upload your ID documents
After you have completed the online part of registration you will then be required to upload your documents (passport, etc.) in order for us to verify your nationality and identity and to ensure that you are eligible to study in the UK.
You must complete online registration before we can verify your identity and complete your registration.
What do you need to provide?
- Registration confirmation – once you have completed online registration, you will receive an email confirming this. Within this email will be a secure personalised link which will take you to your e:Vision portal where you will be able to upload your ID documents.
- A high-quality scan or photo of an original document to confirm your identity – this should usually be your passport. If you do not have a passport, please see this list of other acceptable documents.
Once you have uploaded your ID you will receive an email notification to confirm that this has been successfully, and it will also outline the next steps.
If you have any problems or would rather complete this process in-person, then you may do so.
Stage Three: Activate your IT account
Once you have received and completed your online registration, you will also need to activate your IT account which will then allow you access to all of City St George's online services, including the Library, Moodle and your City St George's email:

This should take a couple of minutes.
Stage Four: Have your ID verified
After uploading your documents, we will check your registration and confirm your identity, nationality and your eligibility to study in the UK for the duration of your course.
This will be done via the e-Vision portal with ID checks commencing from two weeks before the start date of your course, so that we can assist students in the order that their courses start.
If there are any queries about your ID documents, we will be in contact with you directly.
Otherwise, once we have confirmed your identity, we will issue you with a formal confirmation of registration at City St George's to the same contact email address used throughout the registration process. If you have activated your City St George's email then this will also be copied to this account, for your reference.
Please note: To ensure that priority is given to students in the order that they need to start attending classes at City St George's, your ID documents will not be verified until two weeks before your start date.
Stage Five: Collect your student ID card (on-campus study only)
If you are joining City St George's, University of London as a new student in September or October 2025, once your ID check has been finalised, you will receive a notification to confirm your fully registered status for your course. This notification will provide instructions on how to collect your ID card.
It will only be possible to complete stage five and receive your ID card once you all the previous stages are complete
For both new and returning students - if you are unable to book and collect your ID before the end of Monday 13 October 2025, you will need to go to the Student Support Hub (Level 1, Drysdale Building) collect your ID card (no booking will be needed).
What happens if you do not complete registration?
If you do not complete stages 1 to 5 of registration within three weeks of the start of the course, your IT access will be withdrawn and you may be de-registered from City St George's.
If you think you may be late completing registration and need more time, please contact the Course Officer for your course within your School or Department as this will need to be considered by your academic Course Director.

Only completing all stages (in order) confirms your membership with City St George's.
Students who do not complete all stages and finalise their registration are deemed not to be students and are not permitted to start or continue their course, so please ensure that you meet all your registration obligations.
Re-registration for returning students UK and Irish students
All returning students of City St George's, University of London are required to re-register (online) each academic year. As you pass from one academic stage to the next, you will be invited to register again for the subsequent stage of your course.
You’ll receive an email telling you when you are required to register and you will also see your registration status in e:Vision and can register as soon as you see it change to ‘incomplete’.
Completion of online re-registration for your course is mandatory for each year of study that you attend. If your course commences in September/early October 2025 then your final deadline to re-register will be Monday 13 October 2025.
Failure to complete this process by the deadline may affect your continued place on your course. If you have any concerns about meeting this deadline, please contact your Course Officer as soon as possible.
If you are returning outside the September/October period, then your deadline to register is a maximum of 21 days after your official start date (as indicated in your online registration portal.
Returning Students ID Cards
If you are a returning student, please check the end date on your current ID card to ensure that this covers up until to the end of the 2025/6 academic year. If it does, you do not require a new ID card.
If your card has/is about to expire, please go to the Student Support Hub (Level 1, Drysdale Building) to obtain a new one.
Registration for new International Students (EU and Non-EU)
As an international student, by law, we are required to check your Right to Study.
All new and returning international students of City St George's, University of London are required to register for their course each year.
Please note, any students who do not hold British or Irish citizenship are considered international for registration purposes.

Stage Two: Upload your ID documents
After you have completed the online part of registration you will then be required to upload your documents (passport and relevant immigration category to allow you study in the UK).
Please provide a high-quality copy of original documents to confirm your identity and your Right to Study.

Once you upload your documents online, you will receive an email providing information on the next steps.
Stage Three: Activate your IT account
Next, you will need to activate your IT account which will then allow you access to all of City St George's online services, including the library, Moodle and your City St George's email:

Stage Four: Have your ID and immigration documents verified
Once you have submitted your documents online, the next step is for your documents to be verified. You will either be required to attend an in-person appointment, or the check will be completed remotely. Generally, if you are sponsored by City St George’s for a Student Visa, you will be required to attend an in-person ID check. If you are an international (non-British or Irish) student who is not sponsored for a Student Visa by City St George’s, we will aim to complete your ID check remotely.
For the in person registration, you need to have all your documents available, including your share code.
Students who are checked remotely must monitor their emails regularly as the Visa Compliance Team will be in touch if further documents are required to verify your right to study. In complex cases, students may be asked to attend an in-person appointment.
When and where should I go?
Student Visa holders will be required to attend an in-person ID check and will have received the booking link by email. Please ensure you have completed stages one and two before your visit, otherwise we will not be able to assist you. All documents you bring must be originals. If you do not bring all the required documents, we may be unable to complete your registration. Please check this guidance for details of the documents you will need to bring.
Non-British or Irish students who are not sponsored on a Student Visa will have their documents checked remotely in the first instance, and will only be asked to attend an in-person ID check if instructed.
Deadline to complete your ID check
You will have a maximum of 21 days from your course start date to finalise your ID check and complete registration. Please note, if you are on the Bar Vocational Studies or Solicitor’s Practice courses, you will have 14 days from the course start date to complete registration.
You must ensure you register within this time period. We cannot extend our latest registration date, so it is essential that you make every effort to register by the deadline.
If you do not fully register and complete all five stages within the deadline, we are legally obliged to report this to the Home Office, who will then take action to curtail (cancel) your immigration permission (if applicable).
Stage Five: Collect your student ID card (on-campus study only)
When you come to complete Stage 4 of the registration process, you will have the opportunity to collect your Student ID card at the same time.
What happens if you do not complete registration?
If you do not fully register and complete all five stages within the deadline, your IT access will be withdrawn and we will be legally obliged to report this withdrawal of visa sponsorship to the Home Office, who will then take action to curtail (cancel) your immigration permission (if applicable).
Re-registration for returning International students (EU and Non-EU)
All returning international students of City St George's, University of London are required to re-register online each academic year. As you pass from one academic stage to the next, you will be invited to register again for the subsequent stage of your course.
You’ll receive an email telling you when you are required to register, but you will also see your registration status on your e:Vision portal and can register as soon as you see the status change to ‘incomplete’.
Please check the passport and immigration documents that we have on your record, by logging into e:Vision and updating where necessary if your documents have changed since you last registered.
In some cases international students will also be required to complete a new in person ID check once your online re-registration is completed. If this is required, you will receive an email from the Visa Compliance Team explaining the steps you must take to complete registration.
What happens if I don’t complete re-registration?
If you do not register by your deadline, your IT access will be withdrawn, your visa sponsorship will be withdrawn (if applicable) and you may be de-registered from City St George's.
If you have any issues with payment or arrival to the UK, please speak to your Admissions Officer/Course Officer at first instance
Returning Students ID Cards
If you are a returning student, please check the end date on your current ID card to ensure that this covers up until to the end of the 2025/6 academic year. If your card has expired, or is due to expire shortly, please go to the Student Support Hub (Level 1, Drysdale Building) presenting your current card, and a new card can be printed for you so long as you are fully registered for the academic year.
