Merging legacy City and St George's resources

As we bring together resources for Clerkenwell & Moorgate (legacy City) and Tooting (legacy St George’s) students, some content may be specific to one campus and not the other. For the most relevant information, try using specific keywords or exploring content related to your department. If you need help, our support teams are available to guide you.

For Clerkenwell and Moorgate Campus students

Having the right Digital Skills is vital for students to complete their studies efficiently and for future employment.  A recent Microsoft study has revealed that 82 percent of UK jobs already require digital skills and 69 percent of leaders feel their organisation suffers from a digital skills gap (Microsoft, 2023).

Additionally, in our most recent Jisc Student Digital Experience Insights survey 2021/22, when asked whether they had been provided guidance about the digital skills needed for their course, less than half of City St George’s students agreed, with only 46% of students saying they knew what digital skills they needed for their course and just 28% agreeing that they had been given an assessment of their digital skills.

The Student Digital Skills Team have been working hard to provide a range of support for you.

Digital support for you

  • Book a one-to-one digital skills support session, where we can support you with a range of digital skills such as, using Moodle, finding student guidance or using a new piece of software.
  • Complete our Digital skills self-assessment tool which asks you questions about the specific skills you will require whilst at City St George’s and will email you a tailored list of support in relation to your answers.
  • Review our guidance on generative AI and find out what City St George’s position is on the use of generative AI by students.
  • Join our online Student Digital Community on Microsoft Teams, where we regularly post relevant information and details of events to support you with enhancing your digital skills.
  • Access over 16,000 discipline and employment related courses on LinkedIn learning by signing in with your City St George’s email and password.
  • Complete the Learning with Moodle module to practice submitting an assignment, learn how to best communicate with your lecturer and classmates and understand how to access your assessments and feedback.
  • Search our Student Ed Tech guides to find out how to use City St George’s systems and platforms.

Student Digital Community

The Student Digital Community was first launched in the 20/21 academic year following the transition to online learning, when City St George’s students shared that you felt there was a lack of peer support and opportunities for you to integrate into the new university environment and form a solid community and culture.

Since the move to hybrid and more in-person teaching, the community now focuses on promoting efficient digital skills and sharing details about our face-to-face workshops and events.  You can still ask questions in the community and can now also book an online one-to-one digital skills support session.

Why join the Community

The main objective of the Student Digital Community is to promote efficient digital skills within the student community.

As a member, you will receive:

  • Advice and guidance on the support available at City St George’s
  • Information on available digital skills resources (e.g. Educational Technology guidance, LinkedIn Learning and Moodle)
  • Invitations to participate in workshops, surveys and much more
  • Answers to your queries from our Student Digital Skills team.

Who can join the Community

Any student can join the Community, whether you’re a foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate student, so long as you want to get more out of your time at City St George’s and meet new people.

The community is open to students from all Schools and we regularly run University-wide, as well as School-specific events. Likewise, it is an amazing opportunity for international students to get more familiar with City St George’s and what it stands for, as well as the people, academic and student services it offers.
