University Success Programme

Welcome to the University Success Programme.
Starting university is an exciting step, but it can also feel like a big change.

The University Success Programme (USP) was co-created with current students to ensure the content is relevant, practical, and useful to help you make a confident and successful transition into university life.

Through the programme, you will:

  • Build the key academic skills needed for university study.
  • Learn how the University works and where to access support when you need it.
  • Explore common challenges faced by students in a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
  • Develop the knowledge and confidence to get the most from your course and your university experience.

How the programme works

The USP is delivered through 10 online structured sessions on Microsoft Teams, you will find the links to your sessions in your timetable:

  • 5 sessions will take place in Term 1
  • 5 sessions will take place in Term 2

The programme combines live online sessions with a range of on-demand resources within the University Success Programme module on Moodle or Canvas, allowing you to revisit content and engage with materials at a time that suits you.

Attendance and engagement

Your School has worked carefully to schedule USP sessions within your timetable so that they complement your programme and modules. As the USP forms an important part of your first year experience and development, schools expect students to attend and actively engage with the sessions and the resources within the ‘useful resources’ section within this module.

By taking part, you'll gain a clearer understanding of university study, develop effective learning habits, and be better prepared to succeed throughout your degree.

We look forward to supporting you on your university journey.
