Pronunciation for Presentations
Merging legacy City and St George's resources
As we bring together resources for Clerkenwell & Moorgate (legacy City) and Tooting (legacy St George’s) students, some content may be specific to one campus and not the other. For the most relevant information, try using specific keywords or exploring content related to your department. If you need help, our support teams are available to guide you.
Clerkenwell & Moorgate students can use Support@City
Tooting students can contact studentlifecentre@sgul.ac.uk.
For Clerkenwell and Moorgate Students
Pronunciation for Presentations Course
Tutor: Simon Cuddihy
This three-week course is designed for international students and for students whose first language is not English, though all students are welcome to join.
The course is offered in person and takes place on the Clerkenwell campus. It is free and not assessed.
Course aim and content
The course provides a practical overview of key pronunciation features to help you speak more clearly and fluently during seminars and when giving presentations. Each week, you will practise reading words and sentences aloud to develop specific aspects of English pronunciation.
Please note: this course is intended for students who feel a lack of fluency or clarity when speaking. It does not aim to teach a native-speaker English accent.
The course will include:
- word stress
- sentence stress
- linking sounds
- contractions
- vowel and consonant sounds
- dividing sentences into units
