SPGA Dean's Student Award 2027

Since the formation of the School of Policy & Global Affairs in 2022, SPGA has been committed to providing students with the tools they need to graduate and make a transformative impact on society.

Meaningful change often begins close to home, which is why the School would like to champion those who actively shape and improve the SPGA community.

The SPGA Dean’s Student Award recognises students or student groups who have contributed positively to the SPGA community in the following areas:

• Student Leadership and Representation – representing student perspectives and contributing constructively to positive change.
• Community Engagement and Contribution – strengthening the student community through initiatives, activities, or peer support.
• Inclusive Practice and Access – taking practical action to improve access, reduce barriers, and support equitable participation.
• Research Achievement Award – a new category this year, recognising PhD students’ research achievements around three themes:
  • A specific research output such as paper, chapter, book or report
  • A research organisation such as conference, workshop or exhibition
  • Policy related activity/impact

Key information:

Nominations: You can nominate yourself or other students/groups. Nominees do not need to demonstrate impact in all areas; excellence in one or more is sufficient. Only SPGA students are eligible.

Prizes: Up to three successful nominations will receive a £100 voucher or gift card (cash alternative available) and a certificate signed by Charles Lees, Executive Dean of SPGA.

Deadline: Monday 31 May 2027
