Internships & Placements

Through our Career Activation Programme, undergraduate students will acquire experience, knowledge and valuable micro-credentials that you can use to enhance your CV and LinkedIn profile and help you get a head start on your career.

For Clerkenwell Campus Students

Studying for a degree is just the beginning of your journey towards a rewarding career. The best employers look beyond academic qualifications for the attributes and experience needed to hit the ground running and take every challenge in your stride.

What is the Career Activation Programme?

As an undergraduate student, you will complete a credit-bearing Professional Experience module as part of your degree. You will also take a Career Focus module to help you prepare for seeking graduate employment.

Many courses at City St George's provide several options for these modules, allowing you to shape your learning experience to provide the employability skills you want to focus on.

Professional Experience modules

These could take the form of a Micro-Placement, an industry-led consultancy project, a summer internship, volunteering or mentoring and coaching. Each option has been designed to provide essential professional experience and the options available to you are tailored to your subject and career path.

Career Focus modules

These modules are designed to help you navigate your career options and develop the skills needed to stand out in competitive application processes. Each is designed to be unique to your subject and your career options.

Choosing your modules

We provide a list of all available modules for each programme offering a choice. Just filter by your School and course title to see the available Professional Experience and Career Focus modules.

If you have any questions about your available modules or how the programme works, you can contact the Careers Service at careers@city.ac.uk

Micro-Placements Programme 2024/25

The Micro-Placements Programme (MPP) offers opportunities for students who want to explore careers different from those traditionally associated with their degree.

Micro-Placements are an exciting way to gain professional experience via short summer placements with a wide range of London-based employers.

The aim of the programme is to give you real-life exposure to the business environment and enhance your employability skills.

The Micro-Placements Programme is a 15-credit elective module and the Micro-Placement itself takes place in June and July 2025.

All placements will be 140 hours, either four weeks full time or up to eight weeks part time.

Preparation sessions throughout the academic year and guidance materials will help you prepare for placement.
