Course Buddies pairs new undergraduates with experienced students on their course, offering guidance, support and insider tips to help you settle into life at City St George’s and gives you the chance to mentor others and share your own journey.

Get a Course Buddy mentor

A Course Buddy is a second- or third-year student on your course who will mentor you in your first term. They are there to show you all that City St George’s has to offer; answer any questions you may have and provide a valuable insight into studying on your course.

Who is eligible to apply?

All undergraduate students starting their studies in August/September 2025 are eligible to apply. Unfortunately, we do not offer mentors to postgraduate students.

What happens after I apply?

If there are available mentors on your course, we will match you within three working days. If not, you will be placed on our waiting list and matched if one becomes available.

How long does the Course Buddy scheme run for?

The scheme runs from August until February though many students choose to stay in contact throughout their time at City and beyond.

Be a Course Buddy mentor

As a Course Buddy you'll be a second, third- or fourth-year student who will mentor new students on your course in their first term. You'll give them a head start by guiding them around, showing them all City St George’s has to offer and providing a valuable insight into your own experience of studying on your course.

Who is eligible to apply?

All undergraduate students that are expected to continue their studies in September 2025 are eligible to apply. This does not include placement year.

What happens after I apply?

We will assess your suitability using your application form. Successful candidates will be invited to take part in the new online Course Buddies training programme.
