As we bring together resources for Clerkenwell & Moorgate (legacy City) and Tooting (legacy St George’s) students, some content may be specific to one campus and not the other. Travel discounts
Contactless cards can be used to pay for fares across the Transport for London (TfL) network. When travelling to City St George’s campuses or elsewhere on public transport, don't forget to check which discounts you're eligible for as a student, including Oyster cards and railcards.
You can link your Oyster card and Railcard, which saves you 1/3 on off-peak single travel pay as you go fares on the London Underground and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) services.
To link your Railcard and Oyster card, ask the clerk at your local ticket office or Underground station to add your Railcard discount onto your Oyster card. Use your Oyster card at the ticket machines to start saving on off-peak fares. The discount will work for as long as your Railcard is valid.
Bus routes
You can easily transfer between buses for free as often as you like within one-hour of touching in at the start of your first journey. Remember to use the same card to tap in on each leg of your journey to transfer between buses.

Clerkenwell campus
Popular bus-routes that run closest to Clerkenwell campus include:
- The 4: Archway to Blackfriars (North London to Central London South)
- The 19: Battersea Bridge to Finsbury Park (Southwest Central to North London)
- The 56: Whipps Cross to King Edward Street (Northeast to Saint Paul's in Central)
The closest bus stops to Clerkenwell campus are designated by the initials: UA, UF, UK, UN, UP, US. These are marked clearly and are a helpful reminder to board at the correct stop and in your preferred direction to reach your destination.
The following bus-routes below are also close by, with an extra 5-to-15-minute walk to Clerkenwell campus. Most of them stop at Angel Station on the Northern line, which is close to Northampton Square:

The nearest Underground stations to City St George’s campuses are:
Clerkenwell Campus
- Angel on the Northern line (Bank branch) - 15-minute walk away
- Barbican on the Metropolitan, Circle, and Hammersmith & City lines - 15-minute walk away
- Farringdon on the Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Elizabeth lines - 15-minute walk away.
Moorgate campus
- Moorgate on the Hammersmith & City, Circle, Metropolitan and Northern lines (Bank branch) - 10-minute walk away
- Liverpool Street on the Central, Elizabeth, London Overground, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines - a 15-minute walk away.
Tooting Campus
Tooting Broadway (Northern Line, Zone 3) is about five minutes' walk from the Tooting Campus. The tube journey takes about 22 minutes from London Bridge and 25 minutes from Waterloo.
By Rail
Clerkenwell & Moorgate campuses
The Elizabeth line allows quick travel to City St George’s Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses from several locations across London. It takes 7 minutes to travel from Paddington to Farringdon and 2 minutes to travel from Liverpool Street to Farringdon on the Elizabeth line. You can also travel to Farringdon directly from Heathrow Airport on the Elizabeth line.
Tooting campus
Tooting mainline station is a 15 minute walk away from the Tooting campus. The line runs from Wimbledon to Luton and Bedford, via King’s Cross.
Travelling around the UK and into London on trains
The Trainline website and app is a great way to find out about train timetables and routes. You can also book tickets directly and store them on the website or app.
You can check National Rail Enquiries' website for live departure boards for any UK station to see if trains are running on time, and to find up to date travel information.
If you know you’ll be travelling on trains beyond London, it’s worth getting a railcard to save money on every journey. You can add your railcard directly to your Trainline account so you won’t need to carry one around with you.
By Car
Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses
Parking in the roads surrounding the Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses is charged at parking meters.The nearest National Car Parks to Moorgate Campus are at Finsbury Square and Aldersgate Street.
The Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses are within the Congestion Charge zone, which means drivers will pay a daily charge - currently £15 a day - payable in advance, between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 12pm to 6pm at weekends. For more information visit TfL’s website.
Tooting campus
There is a limited amount of pay-and-display parking in the area around the Tooting campus. Travel by public transport is recommended where possible.
From London's airports to Central London
Heathrow Airport

Underground | Elizabeth Line Heathrow is on the Elizabeth line and it takes just 40 minutes to travel from the airport to Farringdon station for Clerkenwell and Liverpool Street for Moorgate campus. For Tooting campus, change at Tottenham Court Road and take the Northern Line to Tooting Broadway. Piccadilly Line You can take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow into central London. To reach Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses, travel to King's Cross and change for the Northern Line to Angel for Clerkenwell, and Moorgate for Moorgate campus. This will take longer than the Elizabeth Line. Bus | Take the National Express to London Victoria station with a journey time of approximately 40 minutes. From Victoria use the Circle line to get to Farringdon station for Clerkenwell campus, and Barbican for Moorgate campus. To reach Tooting campus from London Victoria station, take the Victoria line to Stockwell, and chage for the Northern line to Tooting Broadway. | From £8.40 + Underground fare (book in advance to save money). |
Gatwick Airport
The Thameslink serves Gatwick and takes you to London Blackfriars station in just under an hour. The cost when using contactless payment is £19.20 peak, £10.70 off-peak. Using a paper ticket, the cost of an anytime single is £15.10. From Blackfriars, you can take the Northern line to travel to any of City St George’s campuses.
Luton Airport
You can take the Luton DART shuttle to Luton Airport Parkway and then catch the Luton Airport Express to London Kings Cross St Pancras. The cost when using contactless payment is £21.50 peak, £17.50 off-peak (note you cannot use an Oyster card on this journey). Using a paper ticket, the cost of an anytime single is £24.10 when purchased on the day, and includes the cost of the Luton DART shuttle. Tickets booked in advance are cheaper, and start at as little as £8.40.
From St Pancras, take the Northern line southbound to Angel (Clerkenwell campus) or Moorgate (Moorgate campus) or Tooting Broadway (Tooting campus).
Alternatively, you can take the Thameslink train from Luton Airport Parkway to a variety of central locations including London St Pancras, Farringdon and London Blackfriars. The journey takes between 35-50 minutes depending on where you’re travelling and prices start from £12.60 without a railcard or £10.00 with a railcard.
London City Airport
To go to the Clerkenwell or Moorgate campuses, you can take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) towards Bank station and change to the Northern line (northbound) for Moorgate, Old Street or Angel stations.
To get to the Tooting campus, take the Northern line (southbound) for Tooting Broadway.
Stansted Airport
The Stansted Express connects Stansted Airport with Liverpool Street station. Trains run every 15 minutes and the journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Pre-booked rates start at £15 and may cost more if you don’t book in advance. You can also take coaches from Stansted Airport to central London. A range of companies including National Express run frequent services. These are often cheaper than the Stansted Express if you book in advance.
From Liverpool Street, take the Circle or Hammersmith & City lines to Moorgate for Moorgate campus, or Barbican for Clerkenwell campus.
To reach Tooting campus, take the Central line to Bank station and change for the Northern line to Tooting Broadway.
