This Saturday 21 June is Show Your Stripes Day, a global moment to highlight how climate change is affecting everyone, at both a global and local scale.

To highlight this day, the City St George’s Sustainability team are raising awareness of the campaign and encouraging students, staff and our wider community to share a visual representation of how their local climate is changing to demonstrate the need for urgent action.

See how your local climate is changing

To see how your local climate is changing, go to the link below and select your region from the dropdown menu. You will then be presented with an illustration showing a range of colours from blue to red.

Each stripe represents the average annual temperature since the late 1800’s through to 2024, with blue for cooler years and red for hotter ones.

Check the temperature change in your local region.

Discover your stripes for your own interest, or you can share them with your family, friends or community. You can also share your stripes on social media and use the hashtag #ShowYourStripes.

Why does Show Your Stripes exist?

The Show Your Stripes campaign is a response to the growing temperature change being seen and felt across the world. Its aim is to visualise this by allowing anyone to see how their local area’s climate is changing.

To date, the Stripes have been shown in prominent public spaces, from Times Square in New York to the White Cliffs of Dover on the English coastline. Watch a video about Show Your Stripes from the team at the University of Reading who developed the campaign to learn more.
