We also advertise temporary roles and internships with local businesses, and offer many graduate roles and internships with local companies who are looking for immediate starts.

Widening Participation
Work for City St George's as a Widening Participation Ambassador at events helping young people to explore the world of university. Applications open each year in October for Ambassadors and May for Tutors.
Widening Participation (WP) Student Ambassadors
City St George's Widening Participation (WP) team works with schools and colleges in areas of deprivation or with low rates of progression into higher education and with young people who will be the first in their family to attend university, young carers and those who have refugee or asylum seeker status.
Widening Participation (WP) Student Ambassadors
City St George's Widening Participation (WP) team works with schools and colleges in areas of deprivation or with low rates of progression into higher education and with young people who will be the first in their family to attend university, young carers and those who have refugee or asylum seeker status.
Widening Participation (WP) Ambassadors and Tutors support the University's WP Outreach team working with young people in Year 5 through to Year 13 (9-18 years old). This is done by sharing your experiences of university through on-campus events, visits to schools, or through one-to-one mentoring; and as a Tutor supporting small groups of students with their Maths or English in weekly tutoring sessions at their school.
The aim of WP Ambassadors is to:
- Inspire young people to apply to university
- Support them to achieve their potential
The aim of WP Tutors is to:
- Raise young people’s attainment in Maths or English
- Inspire and inform young people about university
You will also get to build your skills and make a difference to local young people.
As an Ambassador you are paid £12.21 per hour (plus holiday pay), and as a Tutor you are paid £13.85 an hour (plus holiday pay).

Student Ambassadors
Develop your skills, make friends and earn some extra money by becoming a Student Ambassador at City St George's!
At City St George’s, we have a thriving Student Ambassador scheme. Our Student Ambassadors engage in a wide array of work from student recruitment events such as Open Days, widening participation activities such as Science Stars and marketing opportunities such as Unibuddy Reps. Our Student Ambassadors also support singular or infrequent events such as Spotlight on Science, MMIs and research events.
One of the many ways you can get involved during your time at City St George’s is by becoming a Student Ambassador. Ambassadors work within many teams in the University to provide an authentic student approach helping a range of people, both internally and externally.
At City St George’s, there are four different schemes available to be a part of. While each of them might have some overlap with others for what you might do in the role, they all have their own individual aims and target audiences.

- Widening Participation (WP) Ambassadors and Tutors (see above)
- Student Voice Ambassadors
- Marketing and Events Ambassadors
All Ambassador schemes at City St George’s are paid so provide a great way of earning some extra money around your studies.
You can apply to as many as you like – just remember to consider balancing your studies with work.
Student Social Media Content Creators
The University’s Social Media team are looking for five creative students (undergraduate or postgraduate, based at any campus) to join our team as Social Media Content Creators.
In this role you will:
🎥 Produce at least one video or piece of content every fortnight for the University’s official social media channels.
💡 Pitch your own creative ideas in fortnightly meetings with the team.
✂️ Film and edit content to a high standard.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain marketing experience, build a digital portfolio, and shape the University’s online presence.
We are looking for:
- Creativity - you will be responsible for coming up with your own ideas for content
- A good knowledge of social media - you need to be on top of all the latest trends!
- Ability to film and edit videos to a high standard (i.e. transitions, adding captions etc)
- Confidence - we are looking for the new student faces of our social media, so you will need to be at ease in front of the camera as well as behind it!
Pay:
Content creators are paid £13.85 per short video and £27.36 per longer video. This role lasts for the duration of the 2025/26 academic year (ending Friday 21 August 2026), so please consider this before applying. While there is some flexibility during busy periods, you will be expected to be consistent.

Pleas also include a link or attachment to a video you've created that showcases your skills and that meets the requirements above (this could be something already on your own channels, or you can create a video specifically).

Student Voice Ambassadors
Student Voice Ambassadors are all about providing student feedback and input into projects designed to support and enhance the student experience, so where other Ambassador schemes focus more on potential future students, here your focus is on current City students.
In particular, the scheme is set up to enable student involvement in projects relating to the following strategies:
- Education and Student Strategy (ESS)
- Access and Participation Plan (APP)
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (EDI Strategy)
Becoming a Student Voice Ambassador is a great way to share your views and to ensure that the student voice is heard to shape the future of City St George’s, University of London.
To date, Student Voice Ambassadors have been involved in the following opportunities:
- Focus groups on City St George’s Student Charter, the Student Hub and Moodle layouts.
- Providing feedback on their experience and thoughts on race equality.
- Offering comprehensive insight into the role out of an EDI course for students.
- Video assistants for Academic Skills videos and presenting on campus news.
- Student researchers on Decolonising the Curriculum.
- Testers for the Student Advice team Chatbot and a new AI-powered leaning tool.

Marketing and Events Student Ambassadors
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved in as many of the following activities, depending on your interests, availability and expertise. These include:
- Events: Support the delivery and success of on-campus and online events, such as Undergraduate Open Days, Postgraduate Open Evenings, Undergraduate Applicant Days, Taster Days, campus tours and virtual events.
- School liaison: Visit schools for talks and workshops, attend higher education fairs and exhibitions, and show visitors around City St George's campus. You will talk directly to prospective students, their teachers, and their families about your student experience, the university's courses and entry requirements.
- Content creation: Participate in photo/video shoots, create social media assets for City St George's channels, and produce authentic written, video and image-led content (i.e., student blogs, vlogs, student testimonials, etc.).
- Online platforms: Answer questions on student forums and/or become a representative and create content for the University's peer-to-peer platform “Unibuddy”.
- Market research: Take part in focus groups and opinion panels.
What do Marketing and Events Ambassadors get asked about?
As a Marketing and Events Ambassador, you may be asked questions about life at City St George’s, your experience of learning, societies or sports and why you thought the University was the right fit for you.
What makes a good ambassador?
Marketing and Events Ambassadors at City St George’s are expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for the University, be friendly and encourage conversations with prospective students.
Through its variety of roles, the scheme offers you plenty of opportunities to develop transferable skills whilst earning money – it's paid £12.21 (plus £1.47 holiday pay) per hour. It's very rewarding, flexible and fits around your studies.

For Tooting campus students
Tooting campus Student Ambassador is a current City St George’s student who positively represents the University at Tooting campus. Being current students, our Tooting campus Student Ambassadors know what it is like to attend an interview at City St George’s - Tooting campus or navigate the building for the first time. Their lived experience is so valuable when talking to potential or current students, parents or carers, staff and external guests. Tooting campus Student Ambassadors come to the role with variety of different skills and experiences. You may have seen one of our Tooting campus Student Ambassadors in green t-shirts across campus!
Tooting campus Student Ambassadors are paid : the London Living Wage (£13.85 per hour) for standard work and (£14.66 per hour) for a ‘delivery rate’; such as delivering a presentation or clinical skills session.
The activities Tooting campus Student Ambassadors can support with are varied depending on the department. Examples of activities and duties can include:
- Promoting Higher Education to prospective students through a variety of hands-on activities and interactions
- Acting as a role model and ambassador for Higher Education and City St George’s, providing a student perspective on Higher Education to young people, potential applicants and their families
- Assisting at events, such as open days, graduation and study fairs
- Creating student-generated content such as blogs, videos and testimonials
- Answering online messages from prospective students on the Unibuddy platform
- Providing administrative support to departments within the university
As a Tooting campus Student Ambassador, you do not need to be involved in all the above activities, and you can apply for activities based on your preference. Training and briefing sessions are provided.

Each academic year, we recruit Tooting campus Student Ambassadors from all Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes based in Tooting across all years. The application process is incredibly competitive, but we encourage you to apply if this is a role which interests you.
It is worth noting that students should not rely on the Tooting campus Student Ambassador role as a regular source of income as the work is irregular and there is plenty of competition.

- Gain exposure and recognition within the university community.

Unibuddy Ambassador
Unibuddy is an online chat platform where prospective students can ask current students about what life at City St George's is really like. It's an opportunity for us to showcase the authentic voice of our university community.
As a Unibuddy ambassador you will answer queries from students in 1 to 1 chats and act as a role model for future students. You can also get involved in Unibuddy Community, a forum for City St George's offer holders, to answer questions and encourage conversations.
